Mark 9:1

Does the use of "dunamis" in Mark 9:1 support apostolic preterism?

Dunamis--> power

Yes shall receive "dunamis" (Acts 1:8)

Not if you understand the Kingdom of God as already AND not yet. Already established inwardly in the Saints. Then established outwardly when the Kingdoms of this world become the Kingdoms of our God

Note its parallel passages:
Matthew 16:27-28
& Luke 9:26-27

"power consisting in or resting upon armies, forces, hosts"

Dunamis is the origin of the word dynamite.

I think Mark 9:1 supports preterism all by itself. I do not really see the siginifcance in the word, dunamis, though. Share more of your thoughts.

I see no where in scripture where it will become, as you say, outwardly in the world in the future.

Is it possible that seeing the kingdom come with power was referring to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit?

I do not think so. I can see the link and reasoning for it because the Spirit was dunamis. But the context pointed something out to me once along this line: Jesus had just got done talking to Peter and the others about their needs to take their crosses, and Peter resisted. Jesus insisted this was required. So it seems like this statement about not tasting death applies o that. In other words, Mark 8:31-38 speaks of their needs to TASTE DEATH either NOW by losing one's life in self-denial and carrying our crosses, only to find it again for eternity.... or later due to refusal to serve God now and lose one's life for eternity. That would put the words of 9:1 into the thought of some WOULD NOT take their crosses and follow Him, only to find them taste death later and as a result lose their souls forever. The same sequence of thought in context is in Matt 16.
