Conviction vs Condemnation
 

Anyone
care to give an opinion on the difference? And I don't mean the Webster definition.

To me, conviction is an idea that originates in the heart (soul/emotions) and it's not only Christians that have convictions.

Condemnation has to do with an OUTSIDE feeling of guilt being forced upon an individual. The devil and people will bring OUTSIDE pressure upon a person causing the person to feel guilty.

Conviction is something the Holy Spirit brings to us, to make us aware of sin in our lives, but with that conviction there is always the power of the Holy Spirit available to help us change.

Condemnation is a tool of the enemy, to bring back to mind things that the Lord has already forgiven us of. There is no hope in condemnation, because it is brought to us by the enemy. Condemnation usually seeks to destroy and hurt the one it comes to.

When conviction comes into the heart of one, it is from the Lord, and the power of the Spirit is available to overcome sin and to live victorious.

There is a huge difference in condemnation and conviction.

Conviction is constructive and it guides us to God. Condemnation on the other hand is destructive and the person feels unable to access Gods mercy. Whenever a person fails and has feelings of hopelessness, that is condemnation.

Judas Iscariot is a good example.

Failure can motivate us to do better and or it can cause people to give up. Who's report will you believe?

I believe that conviction cannot come from a person including a minister. Legalism is condemnation. The attitude of (if you do this you go to hell ) is condemnation. And I am referring to the legalistic issues often discussed on the forum.

1Thes.5:12 And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; 13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

We can't tell anyone they are going to hell, "unless they have not been born again" and even then it maybe unwise to be so plain with our words. We should admonish and warn one another, because that is scriptural.

Shouldn't we be asking "will I be pleasing to God if?"
