Why was Jesus private with some of his miracles

I don't know that I have ever seen in scripture Jesus explain why He didn't want some of His miracles made public. I have always had my speculations, but I just wanted feedback from others.

I have wondered the same thing.

I wonder if it was because he was trying to avoid the crowds following him for the fishes and loaves, and was instead telling them to keep it to themselves to see if the working of the miracle in that person's life would cause those around that person to ask and wonder about the miraculous events in that person's life instead of just hearing about it from the "rooftops".

This particular time, Jesus wanted the man to testify to the priests, but nobody else. Maybe he wanted to avoid the crowds here. But...you know...it cant be helped

12And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. 13And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him. 14And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. 15But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. 16And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

I always thought that maybe it was because He wanted the people to come to him in faith and not because of the miracles. I'm sure that once people knew He could heal, many of them came to Him just for that purpose and not because they believed Him to be the Son of God. It's sort of like that today; People want the miracles that He can perform but do not want to have a relationship with Him.

There is a prophecy about Messiah in Isaiah about Jesus not lifting His voice up to cry in the streets. I think Jesus was genuinely concerned with not trumpeting Himself up in any way. He came to be a slave.

How often did Jesus say "My hour is not yet come"? It wasn't until the triumphant entry into Jerusalem that the Lord wanted the accolades due to Him to be noised abroad, as a fulfillment of prophecy, something He was OBVIOUSLY super interested in.

He knew the religious elite would want to kill him for jealousy because of the miracles following His ministry, I think He was trying to keep it low key until His appointed time.
