Just a little fun topic about deep calling to deep

Question, anyone other than I ever wonder if deep calling to deep may not be such a good thing? let's look at some of the verses I am talking about...
Genesis 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Sleeping Hard is called deep sleep

Job 11:8
it is as High as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?
This one calls hell deep, and what can you know

Psalm 69:2
I sink into a deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

David is not talking about a good thing here..... I know there are verses that speak to finding things in the darkness and bringing them to the light as well (Job 12:22) but even in that it is not a good thing until it is brought to the light.

It says that Gods Judgments are deep..... who wants to be judged by God? I would rather serve him and find his forgiveness and grace.

could deep calleth to the deep also be said that darkness calls to darkness?

Just some thoughts I have.. feel free to :throwrock at me if you like... LOL

I have often been drawn to the sea references. I tend to believe that all the waters of the world represent the living souls throughout time. Christ said he is the living water.
So some water is alive in him and some is not. The bible says we are the salt of the earth. If the children of God are the salt, in comparison to the oceans, that makes us about 3.5% of the populations throughout time. In revelations it speaks of a crystal sea.... to me that is speaking of the saints that have died and gone on. There is no more tossing back and forth, is it what it is. changing no more. They have made it and therefore no more waves, no more turmoil, they are crystal, clear and pure.

it's actually kind of surprising that we got to our present understanding of the phrase 'deep to deep,' considering its context in Scripture...

English Standard Version
Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me.

so, awesome point! I'm curious if your pastor has excommed you yet for this? :lol

My pastor understands my need to study and question the word... he does not always agree, but he also has never rebuked me for questioning either. We can never go further and stand upon the foundation that the apostles, with Christ as the chief corner stone, built for us if we always go into the Word/Christ looking for what we already know. therefore we have to question. I just love the Word and all it is becoming in my life;)

Our God is infinite, therefore there is no topic (NONE) that we know all about. His truth is never ending so we can learn more and gain a greater understanding of everything we already know....... and may just find out what we know, we don't.
