Another prayer request
Thursday I have to testify in a termination of parental rights trial. I was the case worker of the mother in question from Nov 2013 to June 2014. She has already lost custody of her two oldest children, but not all of her rights. This trial involves her youingest who will be 2 in January. She has been in jail since early June and has not seen him since then. Her biggest problem is a strong addiction to meth. She does stand to lose ALL of her rights to this chid, who will most likely be adopted by the current foster parents or distant relatives.
I would rather swim in Lake Michigan in January than go to this trial, for a number of reasons. I could possibly have to sit outside in the waiting area for several hours with the mother's family , and they are very hostile towards me. Why witnesses are not segregated and sequestered is beyond me. Secondly, I am a "whistleblower" against the agency I worked for and they have been calling people related to to my former cases trying to find dirt on ME, out of revenge and to try to discredit me. Ah what a joy it will be to have to sit with this sordid cast of characters possibly all day! Please pray that God gives me peace and endurance, and that I get to testify early on in the trial so I can leave! Thanks! |
Re: Another prayer request
yikes! i take it you were subpoenaed...i'd think if you put your foot down they might accommodate you, let you sit in the prosecutor's office or something?

Re: Another prayer request
you might call the Prosecutor's office with your concerns? With me they would be demands, btw...you're in my prayers there.

Just now reading this, and praying that the Lord took care of you today.

Re: Another prayer request
Thanks to all for the prayers.
I was subpoenaed by the Dept of Children and Families to testify against a mother who was one of my former cases. I worked for a sub contracted agency that is now trying to discredit me for being a whistle blower. They were not happy that I was called to testify instead of the girl who replaced me. My replacement never looked me in the eye today. Truthfully, I must admit that I never looked the accused mother in the eye, either. It was too painful. I had so hoped she would have changed and I had developed a good working relationship with her. But when the prosecutor asked me pointblank, "Do you feel this mother should lose her parental rights?", sadly, I had to answer in the affirmative. I hope this is the last one, but I'm sure other subpoenas will follow concerning other cases. |
Re: Another prayer request
It's not easy terminating the rights of any parent, but sometimes it has to be done. We are hoping to get the rights of my children's birth mother terminated in about a year. Then I will be adopting them. We can't wait. The kids are excited too.
