Dreams and visions
 

Thought it would be interesting to start a thread on dreams and visions you have had. Not that you heard others have, but which you have had given to you.

I'll go first. :)

Years ago before I was saved I was given a vision. It actually helped propel me to surrender to the claims of God and repent.

I saw the entire world, almost like I was in space looking at the planet. I could sense all the people on the planet though I couldn't see them individually.

There was a blanket laying across the world. It looked to be about a couple hundred miles thick in proportion to the world. It was made out of darkness itself, as if darkness was SO dark it was palpable and heavy, like a lead blanket made out of pure dark-stuff.

I could feel the heaviness of it weighing down on everyone, literally choking and suffocating everyone. I could feel the suffocation, the weight of it. It was nightmarishly real, so much pure depression, misery, evil, blindness, death...

But as I looked a saw a light on the earth. The darkness was trying to smother it like it was everything else. But the light cut through the darkness like a burning hot knife through butter. It literally dissolved and dispelled the darkness all around it. In the light there was room to breathe, a release from the depressing suffocating weight.

The light was a golden colour. If you've ever been outside during a solar eclipse, where it's bright sunlight yet simultaneously not so bright then you will have an idea what it looked like.

Yet at the same time it was a bloody red, kind of like a fire was burning somewhere. I looked and this light was emanating from a wooden cross. The cross wasn't burning but the light shining from it was both golden and fiery red (not a mixture but somehow both at the same time).

I understood instantly that the world is suffocating in darkness (me included) but the cross dispels the darkness, brings light and the ability to breathe, and that life giving light was a burning flame.

I had been wrestling under conviction but when I had that vision it pretty much sealed the deal for me: the message of the cross, the gospel, is the only light in this world.

Years later I read that passage of scripture that speaks of gross darkness covering the earth and the nations as well as the verse that speaks about "at evening it shall be light" and was blown away because they describe so perfectly what I saw in vision years before.

I would like to share a vision I had years ago(about 20). I was working construction on the Presidio of S.F. and commuting 80 miles home every day. I had a HBS after work one day and by the time I got home, I was completely exhausted. I just sat on the rocker to rest and fell into a slight state of sleep. I was still in the Spirit from the lesson I did, then suddenly, I saw a glimpse(vision) of a certain co-worker falling off a building.(he was my 2nd man). He was facing outward while falling. The man was a violently argumentive Catholic with me on a daily basis. I had witnessed to him and he would only get angry about it.
The vision startled me to a point that I stopped the job the next day, confronted the man to his face and told him what I saw. I warned him to be extra careful, but he brushed it off with mockery and we kept working out the day. At the end of the day, we were suddenly assigned to shingle a small garage that the granules of the shingles were just rolling out of the wrapper(bad batch). We were told to install them regardless of the problem. I stopped the job and told the other 3 guys to be extra careful from slipping. The guy helping me dropped a shingle on a car, started walking(stomping) down the slope, cussing, and his feet went right out from under him and fell facing out from the roof.(me shouting to be careful the whole time) He hit the ground(about 12 feet), breaking his foot/ankle in 8 places.
He was screaming on the ground in pain and when I got to him, he immediately stopped screaming and looked me right in the eye, telling me..."you told me this would happen"!
I told him then..."this is real"!
Brethren, God even uses us at construction sites!!!

I had a dream I was in prison. I was in a cell block, where three sides were bars
and I could see the other prisoners in their respective cells. The "guards" were actually
demons in blue uniforms and night sticks in their hands, walking up and down the
main corridor. When I leaned against the cell door, I was surprised to find it was open!
A guard saw me standing with the cell door open and rushed to close the door: but he
didn't lock it because he didn't have any keys.

I asked the other inmates if their cell doors were also open, and they replied in the
affirmative. I yelled, 'Let's get out of here.' But the inmates told me they couldn't: you see
the guards had warned them about breaking out. I left the cell and followed the
corridor to a door that led me outside to a huge "yard": it had high walls all the way
around, with a watch tower on each corner and in between the corners. There were
inmates all over the place.

As I walked around the yard, i saw a river flowing through the middle of the yard: it
came in under one wall, and went out under the opposite wall. The river was not
running fast, just kind of gentle. I grabbed an inmate and asked why no one escaped
through the river and he replied with fear in his voice: "Don't try it; for everyone
who has gone into the river has NEVER returned!"

I never went back to the cell. I stood there contemplating the river, and I jumped in.
I swam under water and under the wall: and when I surfaced, it was just beautiful!
Almost immediately, I was falling down a waterfall, into a very large pool of water.
I could see men in blue uniforms waving to me to come to shore. I saw they already
had a large group of men that had escaped through the river and they were being
led away to another prison: being kept away from the main population.

When you jump into the river and land in that lake, don't swim to shore. Just let
the current of the water take you where it may
