Question about Acts 2:38: What about the martyrs?

Some might not have been baptized, and even if they were it might not have been in Jesus name. Some might not have spoken in tongues. Some might have been trinitarian. If Acts 2:38 is indeed the New Testament plan of salvation, have these martyrs for the cause of Christ died in vain?

Ask your pastor. Don't ask that here.

Only God knows. Leave it to Him.

Can you be saved by good works, like giving to the poor, helping folks out, praying, reading your bible, working miracles, or giving your body to the burning stake as a martyr?

Undoubtedly many were saved.

And many who match that description and who have not been martyred will also he saved, I believe.

Whether they were saved or not, that is up for God to decide not us.
you can believe anything you want to, but that does not necessarily makes it true, people used to sincerely believe the earth was round.
in the middle ages people actually believed in werewolves, there are even drawings of them beasts, which many people swore they were real.

and in thy NAME done many wonderful works?"

It is not solely Acts 2:38, but also Mark 16:16. Peter and the apostles were only confirming the
words of the Lord Jesus. There have been martyrs in every organization, denomination, and religion
of every stripe: were those all saved? Did the Lord Jesus "know them"? Or can anyone be saved
and deny baptism, even the NAME of Jesus in the waters of baptism?

Now this: all who have died, the Lord will surely judge; and those who preach any other name, is
now being judged. They will finally be judged according to the judgment of the "Watchman" who did
not issue the warning, or issued a false warning!

Nevertheless, our preaching and teaching is unto the living!

"I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
