4 Marines Killed

Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez shot 4 Marines at a military facility in Chattanooga, TN. There was an earlier shooting at a recruitment center a few miles away. A sign on the door says it's a "Gun Free Zone."

Ted Cruz has been talking about arming soldiers on bases. There shouldn't be a question anymore. Our men and women in uniform have big targets on them even here. It's incredibly stupid to force them to be sitting ducks with no means of defending themselves.

I agree. Of all people to be armed it should be them. All recruitment sites need to be designated federal property and service men armed or at least have MPs there

Prax, the officers treat the grunts like dirt at times. They may be worried about some "loose cannon" shooting his peer in retaliation of ill treatment. I cannot imagine screaming at someone that has a gun on his side.

The presence of more M.P.s (or ranks above private) may be the only modification they will make, if any.

First there will be a screening process, training and qualification. The military is not going to just hand out weapons to every single person.

Possibly there will be a single safety officer (NCO's could hold this position, oh for civilians I mean sergeants) or two or three safety or security officers.

The soldiers who are issued weapons (probably 9mm handguns) will be help accountable of where the weapons are and how they are used and secured.

The argument that if trained professionals are just going to flip out and start shooting at the drop of a hat is ridiculous. Same thing was said before concealed to carry was authorized. People who go through the screening process who are law abiding citizens are responsible cautious individuals. They don't turn in to cowboys the second they get their hands on a weapon.

I think having armed military police on any government bldg. is o.k. by me. I don't think that our on duty soldiers should be carrying weapons around everywhere on U.S. soil (that could backfire as sean said). All Americans who have no criminal record should be able to carry, but I don't think it is expedient for most to do so. We should have the rights to bear firearms, but I think it better at this point to leave them at home (it should be our choice though).
