If someone says 'doctrine is wrong', isn't that... doctrine?

Re: Doctrine is WRONG

It's pretty sad when our society has come to the point that persons over the age of 12 actually believe that TEACHING, IN ITSELF, IS WRONG.

No wonder there is so much ignorance in the world today.

Re: Doctrine is WRONG

look, i don't mean to say that doctrine is wrong; just that it can become a weapon, to exclude others. What is doctrine, anyway? Being as how the definition has changed, i mean--wouldn't you both hold that for a person to be saved, they must follow Acts 2:38, with the evidence of speaking in tongues? Is that one of your doctrines? Because it is straight from hell, in application if not intent, which is debatable. Gasp.

And i have no problem with teaching--until you start teaching people that "Those guys are all lost," and other pernicious yack, while pretending to rep Christ. Heck, even then--have at it. Who am i to stop you, even if i could. But don't be surprised when you get called out for it. You will never be condemned for preaching love and reconciliation imo. It will sure be nice when affiliated churches start practicing Grace, and abandon applying their doctrine as law.

The doctrinal truth hurts, bro.....

2 Timothy 3:16

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:.....

but it hurts in a good way.

Re: Doctrine is WRONG

Doctrine by definition creates "exclusion", for it establishes the distinction between those taught and those not taught, between those who are learned and those who are not, between those who know and those who do not know, between those who obey and those who don't, etc.

The idea that "it is wrong and ungodly to identify those who do not obey the doctrine of Christ" is pure hokum. It is a favorite DOCTRINE of those who refuse the doctrine of the Bible and wish to sooth their conscience.

The apostles taught that their doctrine SAVES and that any other doctrine DAMNS. Our job is to receive and obey their doctrine, and yes we are called to discriminate. We are commanded by the apostles to rebuke false doctrine, to shun those who propagate it within our ranks, and to refute it with true doctrine whenever necessary.

Doctrine isn't a bad thing. It is the means God uses to save souls from the Second Death and it is the means he uses to reveal himself to man.

Doctrine means "Teaching"...the bible doctrine excludes some from the Kingdom of God

Re: Doctrine is WRONG

Then one is forced to ask why people feel it necessary to add to Bible doctrine; and the answer becomes self evident. And also self serving. It's all there in the fruit, and the fruit cannot lie. You turn Acts 2:38 from a blessing, a way in, to a curse, a way to exclude. "No one who does not amend Acts 2:38 with us is lost." (and coincidentally, subject to an attack of "freedom.") ok

oh i beg your pardon, i thought that was Christ.

"You search the Scriptures for Me, when here I am right in front of you."

Why is it lawyers are always quoting Paul, and never Christ, i wonder.

here is some Bible doctrine for you, that you might come to Christ
