A word to Millennials in the church
 

Everyone knows that I am the timid type who rarely says what is on his mind (seriously, I used to be that way!).

Today I have a reproof/rebuke for the "milenials" who seemed to have somehow wrestled the helm of the church away from wise elders.

I view the many elders God placed in my life with reverence and awe. I fight hard to emulate them, and to teach others what they taught me . But I must say you millenials have one of the worst attitudes I've ever seen in regards to the pioneers in the church that came before you. You let them subtly know, "You had your turn. It's our turn now. We're smarter than you, more educated than you, and we know how to bring "progress" to the church. There's nothing you can teach us. There's little to be learned from you. In fact, you embarrass us".

Of course, there are exceptions. But , in general, you guys need to repent.

Anyone that has disrespect for elders has not ever read their bible... maybe that is the problem?

BINGO!! Amen.

It's the world creeping into churches. I saw how disrespect for authority started in the 60's and heavily into the 70's. High schools had kids laying all ove rhte floors laying on each other, and smacking gum in class, frowning at the teacher when he or she asked a question... Parents hearing kids mouth off at them. And respect for authority has vanished. ANd now we see people in church doing the same thing. Unruly children. A.D.D. myths.

Your post sounds like the usual psychological manipulation used to keep people from questioning or changing anything. I think one should respect "pioneers" but not be a slave to their thoughts or methods. Our commitment is to the bible and God, not to any man's particular take on it.

Food for thought on both sides of the aisle!

"Pioneers" tend to read the same scriptures the same way; while those who
have been raised sleeping under the pews keep asking: "Is that all?"

The prophet(s) and the apostle(s) were commanded by the Lord to CLOSE
the book(s) until their time to be fulfilled. Sometimes we can lose sight of
that. There are things that are beginning to be revealed, but we are up
against two problems. The pioneers are not ready to hear any "new"
revelations (not that there are any new revelations, but new info that
should be judged by standing scriptures); and those upcoming "elders" who
have not been taught to expect the scriptures (prophecies) to be opened
to them. "Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old
commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is
the word which ye have heard from the beginning."

"Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in
him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light
now shines."

How long do you have to wait to be a leader? The oldest Millennials are in mid-30's - plenty of pastors started before then. Definitely respect leaders and seek advice, but you become your own person at some point.
