The GOP Establishment

The GOP Establishment does not care if they lose in 2016.

To them, going back to holding 40% of the power in Congress is a fair trade-off for getting to keep all the perks in place.

They are not seeking to run their own candidate (by hijacking the convention or running a candidate 3rd Party) because they think he would be more conservative or have a better chance against Hillary. On the contrary, they have only one thing in mind....keeping the perks in place that the Tea Party originally wanted to take from them, and that Trump/Cruz want to take from them now. Losing in November to achieve that end is a small price to pay.

Unlike the hand ringing ,Evangelical ,"Never Trump" minority, the establishment is not concerned about Christianity or morals, either. However, according to Carl Rove, it is these gullible, foolish Christians they plan on using to do their dirty work this November. They will run a candidate that meets all the establishment criteria, but will sound like an Evangelical prince, and thus the Evangelicals will become willing participants in driving the final nail in their own coffin....and they will deserve it. This has come about due to the fact that too many Evangelicals are voting on some vague , abstract "principle" rather than from a fervor to preserve religious freedom. Thanks for nothing, brethren.

Re: The GOP Establishment

It has become obvious that the "Establishment" in both parties cares more about staying in power with the party, then listening to and obeying the "will of the people".

Re: The GOP Establishment

The Party has an agenda. They play the role of the loyal opposition, while giving lip service to both social and fiscal conservatism. They are anything but conservative, however.

The "people" are at fault for continuing to send them money and supporting them, as if by some magical quantum chance things MIGHT turn out different "this time" (every time).

The Trump phenomenon is a sign the grassroots are getting fed up with the parties. Democrats are crossing over to Trump, even.

Ross Perot, again.

I predict a brokered convention (which means the party CLEARLY doesn't give a patooey what the people want). Romney is the GOP nominee, Trump goes independent, and Shrillery is selected.

NO MATTER WHO GETS IN though We The People will be betrayed. The Lord will famish ALL the gods of the earth before its all over and done with.

This echoes my point that the GOP establishment is not concerned with winning. There goal now is to subdue the masses.

I don't believe in the Trump Democrats. I still believe most Dems are doing this purposefully to make sure the GOP nominates the weakest candidate so HRC can win the election.

Until Trump wins the nomination and the results on election day prove they really crossed over, I'm very skeptical about it.

Their goal, I meant.

Their goal and our goal have always been two different things. Bob Dole? Romney? The current crop of faux options?

The Party of Lincoln rolls on...

In other news, I just found I have a direct lineal descent via my mother's side of the family to a veteran who served with Company A, 2nd Georgia Regiment, Army of Virginia, under General Toombs. I'm currently collecting the paperwork for my SCV membership. Woo-hoo! +1
