Trump with "DREAMers" in 2013. "You've convinced me" I've been heavily criticized for daring to state that Trump is 1) not who he claims he is (conservative, Republican), and 2) will not do what he claims he will do. I've noted that on Trump's signature campaign issue: immigration, he has gone off the record with the NY Times to state he would negotiate and not be as tough as his campaign rhetoric would indicate. I've also posted a linked in which Trump states his threat of a 45% tariff of China is nothing more than a bluff. "That will never happen," were his words to Charlie Sykes. Here's more proof Trump won't do what he claims with regards to immigration: """On an August day two years ago, Donald Trump was in a much different place: He was just a billionaire with the simple goal of connecting his beauty pageant business with the upcoming Hispanic Heritage Awards. So at his New York penthouse office atop Trump Tower, he convened a meeting. Trump ushered in a pair of men -- one to talk about the awards and a Democratic strategist who works with nonprofits -- and three young DREAMer activists. The DREAMers were on a tour sharing their stories with those less likely to support them, like tea party supporters.""" """You know, the truth is I have a lot of illegals working for me in Miami," he told them, using the term for undocumented immigrants those in the meeting found offensive. "You know in Miami, my golf course is tended by all these Hispanics -- if it wasn't for them my lawn wouldn't be the lawn it is; it's the best lawn," Pacheco recalled Trump saying. Trump said he knew the work of undocumented people is what makes his golf courses and hotels great. "At the end of the day, what we're looking at is a value proposition for America," Tijerino said to Trump at the end of the meeting, referring to immigration legislation. "You've convinced me," Trump said to the delight of the activists in the room.""" And this is what Trumpsters need to understand: Trump is a businessman. His wealth and riches are a source of great pride. He will do whatever it takes, whether employing illegals for less wages or manufacturing his line of ties in Mexico and having his other products made in China. Trump will not do anything which may negatively affect his wealth. And his campaign rhetoric of a tough immigration policy does not align with his bottom line. Something has to give, and you can be sure it won't be Trump's bottom line. http://www.buzzfeed.com/adriancarras...de#.ujK820kBDw |

But Trump is still a businessman who has his ties made in Mexico, allegedly employs illegals at his resorts and hotels and whose products are all made in China. Again, his bottom line is his money. He will not enforce any type of immigration law which will negatively affect his money. Not going to build a wall. Not going to deport anyone. He may add border agents and enforce or lower the number of Visa's available. But Trump isn't going to mess with business. And illegals are good business. |

Sure, there are kool aid drinkers, in every camp, but the Trump Phenomenon IS NOT ABOUT CAMPAIGN PROMISES OR POLICIES. It is about driving a truck at 100 mph through the front door of the Cafe Status Quo. You need to get away from CNN, Faux, Levin, Beck, Hannity, Rush, Cooper, and the rest of the lame streamers. Its skewing your view of things. I said it before, every Trump supporter I *personally* have interacted with in meatspace could care less about ANYTHING the media twits about. Their campaign slogan is "Burn it down". They are mad, angry, ticked off, as well as upset. THEY DONT CARE ANYMORE. Trump represents something that Paul and the Tea Party only hinted at. Imagine what happens when the GOP tosses Ryan or Romney up front as their choice. All these Trumpsters, as you ignorantly call them, aren't just going to go away. |
My post wasn't about Trump supporters, it was that Trump isn't going to do what he claims he's going to do.

The Future demands an omelette, and Trump looks like a good way to break some eggs. All that glitters is not gold. All who wander are not lost. Hey Mr Tambourine Man, play a song for America, etc etc etc. Did you drive your Chevy to the levy yet? :icecream |

Anyone who has actually taken time to listen to Trump's immigration stand will know that his plan involves allowing allot of non-violent illegals with families to return, to even be expedited once they return to their native country and apply for papers. So there is no contradiction in his tough stand now and meeting with "Dreamers" back then.
