would like some proven health advice

I am 34 years old 6' tall and about 240 Ibs. It seems that most of my weight carry in my gut. The last 3 or 4 years it seems like I deal with indigestion and bloating stomach issues alot. Before I got married it seemed I could eat and my body would keep up. It seems like now I gain weight when I am fasting lol.

A man in our church recently had a mild heart attack and I it has got me thinking about the future. I don't want to be one of those 60 year old guys on 4 or 5 different kinds of blood pressure medicine. We are not promised a tomorrow, but just in case I want to do my part. Any advice to healthy foods and exercise routines that you have experienced to proven effective. This morning I set out to do a 30 min. run, I made it about 20 with a little brisk walking in between. I am bad out of shape.

1. No fast food, period.
2. Reduce carbs, especially sugar and grains and breads, increase proteins (meat).
3. Calisthenics - start slow, pushups, situps, etc)
4. Long distance running is bad for you, do sprints instead.
5. Reduce processed foods to zero - use frozen or fresh veggies, meat from meat market/butcher shop, prepare your own meals.
6. Eat smaller meals but more often - this helps stimulate metabolism.
7. Lift weights using big compound lifts - deadlifts, squats, clean and press, etc.
8. More water, less cokes.
9. Vitamins.
10. Avoid GMO.
11. Do more outdoor activities of any kind.
12. Take up mma, boxing, wrestling, etc or some other athletic type exercise (swimming is also excellent).

do you want to kill this Person?

A person who is badly out of shape or just starting exercising should not do
4. Sprints
7. lift weights
12. any of that stuff.

The list is good, except for those parts, which are OK for a person already used to exercising, but definitely will induce a fatal heart attack on someone just starting out.

Start easy and work your way up.

Above all be consistent, just being consistent will work the miracle.

Nonsense. Everyone should start out doing what they can, and improve from there. Nobody is going to go from zero to 500 lb deadlifts in one week. Sprints are not heart attack inducing, that's why stress tests involve jogging not sprints.

As for number 12, we have several 40 something yr old guys at the mma gymn I go to who do catch wrestling. They are big guys with beer bellies and they look like they'd drop dead going up a flight of stairs, but they can pin and submit like champs cause they "git r done".

As always, start small and gradually increase the effort and in a year you'll be a new person. One can always improve their position.

It has been Biblically proven that dying causes living.

Quote:

John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone:but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. 25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
