soup kitchen
Today we are making 317 quarts of soup for the street children ( and some adults) Been up since early this morning....I would like to ask your prayers for this ministry.
My heart is not doing good according to the doctor....however so happy that I was chosen to be over the street children's work. Today is a special day. My helpers have things almost all cut up...two huge pans of boiling water on my stove....all kinds of things to go in the soup....We are making 3 kinds of soup today....wow...a real treat for them...We also have a special performance today to entertain them and then a spiritual side...using all means to reach them. Today God gave us a special blessing. My neighbor has a little bread store. He is giving me 200 little buns to go with the soup today...Just a Catholic man touched by our love for street children. I have always helped in this ministry but this is the first time I have ever been in charge....Sure need your prayers. |

Re: soup kitchen
I've prayed for you and this ministry.
As I prayed, a thought came to my attention, that I would like to share. It's a question really. It is this: Do you have someone or a group of someones to carry the torch and keep the work of God alive after your decease? I don't mean to be morbid, or anything of the sort. But it is of the utmost importance that the mantle be passed. I know of some who have been so busy, they've forgotten to train and prepare their replacement. Now, I'm not here demanding an answer from you. You know what you know. But if there isn't anyone that is ready to carry on the legacy of the Alvear's in Brazil, in the fear of the Lord I say, there must be someone found! |
Re: soup kitchen
Yes, I am taking a young pastor and his wife with me and doing my best to train him. Please join with me in prayer for this work and for those that will carry it on. We do have a son here with us that is the local pastor but I don't know if he would be the one to carry it on as he cries a lot over the plight of these children but he does help us.
Please help me pray much over this burden. It takes a real call to do this kind of work as it is VERY Dangerous. However I deeply love these people and have worked in many places like this during the last 48 years and some have been rescued from the depths of abuse and crime. |
