opinions on John 14
Your opinion why Jesus said he would send another comforter?

Re: opinions on John 14
Jesus Himself clarified that in the next breath.
"I will not leave you comfortless, I will come to you" He was explaining that He would be coming back, but not in His current form. |

I think comfortless actually means orphans He would be their Father through the HGB.

Re: opinions on John 14
BUT WAIT! There is more!
actually John 14 is one of my favorite scriptures. its powerful and Jesus himself makes claim to being both the father and the Holy Ghost. so I kind of love it. 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. 18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. Another Comforter… who? The Spirit of truth… Who is the Spirit of Truth? Well, verse 26 says the Comforter is the Holy Ghost…. And that is true but look close at vs 17 “the spirit of truth that the world cannot receive, because it does not see him, nor knows him… but you know him for he lives with you…. And shall be in you. Notice that the disciples SAW the spirit of truth, and the Spirit of truth, LIVED WITH THEM. Then Jesus says the Spirit of truth would be IN them… Then in 26 says the Comforter (spirit of truth) is the Holy Ghost… So the passage is all about 1. That Jesus is in fact the HG 2. That even though Jesus would go away in death, resurrection and ascension, He would not leave his followers orphans. He would in fact come back to them as the Holy Ghost. Therefor Jesus made his own claim that he was the Holy Ghost. |
Re: opinions on John 14
Jesus also make his claim to be the Father in vs 7
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. YOU HAVE SEEN THE FATHER.... all those guys had ever seen was JESUS. SEEN. not just "I and my father are one" not just "if you know me you know the father" rather, all of that AND YOU HAVE SEEN THE FATHER... I love John 14 |
