Credit Card Fraud
I got two calls, just answered it for the first time where the caller id just says BW.
This guy rambles off a pitch where he says I am gonna get a free magazine and they just wanted to let me know so I was not surprised. He says they got my name from a card services data base and I was selected to get a free mag. When I started asking questions he kept going back to the read..when I asked him again what data base he said my card service. SO then when I asked him what card he says "Visa, master card or Discover, which ever one"...so of course I asked "you don't know which" and the he hung up |
I have been getting phone calls from people. They tell me that I have won this big sweepstake because I have a credit card. Then they say that I can get 4 magazines. Then come the sales pitch. The magazines are free but I have to pay shipping which is around $5.00 a week. They have been calling me on my cell phone and using my minutes. There ought to be a law against telemarketers calling a cell phone. LOL

Well, I know that the telemarketers are just people trying to make a living so I try to be nice. The first time I listened politely until they were finished, then I just started interrupting them and saying I am sorry but I am not interested and hang up. I hate to be rude but I hate to pay for minutes while I listen at them. LOL

But if it is my cell, and was costing me minutes, I would hang up immediately. |

The I discover it was an unsolicited marketing call I hang up. This is usually about 3 seconds into the call. This is the most polite thing I can do for them. Any more time is costing us both money.
I rarely say one single word after answering the phone. |
I do not listen to telemarketers. I tell them to put me on the "DO NOT CALL" list and tell them don't call back.

This is not about credit card fraud. But there are people calling about your medicines too. They tell you they want to help you purchase your medicines, that they can save you money. My daughter in laws grandmother was taken off her medicare by these people. She had difficulty getting her reinstated. So you seniors need to be on the look out for medicare fraud too. There are snakes in every woodpile. If it sounds to good to be true, It usually is. Beware
