Church For Men

www.churchformen.com

What do you think of this site?

jwharv 06-19-2007 11:02 PM

"You may think that the church is too male-dominated, harsh and legalistic. Some churches are this way – but far more common are comforting churches where the real agenda is making everyone feel loved, accepted, and busy. While there’s nothing wrong with this lineup, it’s not going to get many men out of bed on a Sunday morning.

Men are absenting themselves from church because they cannot function in a feminine environment. We might as well invite men to a baby shower. Men know that church is not for them; that’s why it’s earned a reputation as a place for little old ladies of both genders."

I haven't seen the site, but my husband read the book. He said it's pretty insightful really. Think about most churches today....the female population usually outweighs the male, especially in Pentecostal circles. (And I didn't mean OUTWEIGH literally, although that may be true as well!!). Women are more emotional and more easily moved by the Spirit, I think. Men have to be in some kind of crisis it seems, to feel that they need God.

A teaching church draws more men than a singspiration church. I have always had a church filled with men. Strength draws stength. Men don't want a wishy washy no black or white all gray church. They like absolutes and authority. It is a MAN thing!

I told the church the other day "Ladies if you are looking for a 'warm-sensitive-listening-nuturing-man he just ran off with another man!"

It is a MAN thing. Work-sweat-leading-protecting-bull headedness-and yes loving that is a MAN. Not some wimpy-honey please-I feel your pain that screams if dirt gets under his fingernails-never has a drop of sweat-never says THIS IS HOW IT IS!

It is a MAN thing.
