*** The Diary of Brainwashed ***
September 19, 2017 Dear Diary, I’m tired of the rhetoric in Pentecost. I’ve addressed these issues before, and even discussed it with leadership and congregants. I’m weary of hearing pastors and lay-ministers preach over the pulpit, “God, send us to someone that we may share the gospel with them.” Oh diary, God once told me to ask them, “what’s wrong with sharing the gospel with their neighbors, family members, and people they pass in the groceries store?” I asked the brethren and they stayed quiet. They would like to believe they’re performing the will of God with their excessive programs, Christian concerts, fellowships, etc. But the fact remains they’re stagnant and remain in what they feel is comfortable, under the pretense that their doing God’s will, failing to realize they’re far from it! Above all else, the objective of God’s will for our life is to win souls before all else. If we’re not winning souls in our walk, we’re deviating from God’s will. I’m a firearms fanatic and own multiple firearms, and it was easy for me to spark up a conversation with strangers about firearms. Yet, one day God asked me, “how is it so easy for you to speak with strangers about firearms, yet so difficult to share the gospel?” I was deeply convicted and never have been the same since. Diary, I don’t want to be like all these Pentecostals. I want God to continuing molding me. Love, Brainwashed |

Not good form.
Sounds like... Luke 18:11 KJV The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. It's got the tone of putting others down to make a point, instead of just making a point without pointing to others. |

Above all else, the objective of God’s will for our life is to win souls before all else. If we’re not winning souls in our walk, we’re deviating from God’s will. Not true. We are not commissioned to "win souls" but rather to make disciples. Paul said it like this: "Christ sent me, not to baptise, but to preach the gospel." In other works, the mission is to proclaim the gospel, not "secure conversions". When we think "the purpose in life is to WIN SOULS" we inadvertently start thinking the ends justifies the means. The very problem you complain about - "programs" - are a result of "win souls is our mission" thinking. Our purpose is not to win anybody. It is to preach the gospel. God is responsible for converting people, not us. We are to be heralds, not salesmen. Fulfilling God's calling on one's life is not measured by the number of converts one gets, but by how faithful one has proclaimed the word to those around them. BTW, I dont think I have really heard too much of the kind of praying you mentioned, to be honest. It is usually "send somebody my way" or "direct me to those whom You have prepared", etc. There is nothing wrong with praying "Lord, send me to someone" unless it's an excuse to do nothing without some super big gigantic "impulse of the Spirit" or something. |
