Google: not just a search engine
In just over 30 years, humans will be able to upload their entire minds to computers and become digitally immortal - an event called singularity - according to a futurist from Google.
Ray Kurzweil, director of engineering at Google, also claims that the biological parts of our body will be replaced with mechanical parts and this could happen as early as 2100. Kurweil made the claims during his conference speech at the Global Futures 2045 International Congress in New York at the weekend. ... We're going to become increasingly non-biological to the point where the non-biological part dominates and the biological part is not important any more. 'In fact the non-biological part - the machine part - will be so powerful it can completely model and understand the biological part. So even if that biological part went away it wouldn't make any difference. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencete...-90-years.html |
Re: Google: not just a search engine
Many people in Silicon Valley believe in the Singularity—the day in our near future when computers will surpass humans in intelligence and kick off a feedback loop of unfathomable change.
When that day comes, Anthony Levandowski will be firmly on the side of the machines. In September 2015, the multi-millionaire engineer at the heart of the patent and trade secrets lawsuit between Uber and Waymo, Google’s self-driving car company, founded a religious organization called Way of the Future. Its purpose, according to previously unreported state filings, is nothing less than to “develop and promote the realization of a Godhead based on Artificial Intelligence.” https://www.wired.com/story/god-is-a...-his-messenger |

There has been no trace of self-awareness in AI.
All of the studies that they show that cite this fail to disclose that it is the programming to make them self aware that makes them self aware. It will take a large leap in AI to make this possible. I am not concerned with AI. I am concerned with what some renegade programmer or company could program some machines to do. |
