Explain this, please
Please explain how raging California wildfires burn down multiple businesses, while leaving the trees surrounding those businesses intact?

The house at the top, mostly burned, except for one end. |
Re: Explain this, please
I've read some articles claiming that trees are less flammable to embers than buildings. The claim I've read is that burning embers flew through the air and caught these buildings on fire.
Man, those embers flew a long way... The red is the danger zone ... that black dot is where these buildings are/were located. https://www.metabunk.org/attachments/evac-jpg.29782/ |

Re: Explain this, please
I'm wondering if some folks are just burning their buildings for insurance purposes and blaming it on the wildfires?
As for DEWs, I've heard some eyewitness reports that are consistent with that, but I haven't seen any photographic evidence yet. I've only just now started paying attention to the fires. I take ANY news out of California with a couple tons of rock salt. |
