Pope to change the Lord's Prayer!

Pope Francis has suggested he wants to make a change to The Lord's Prayer, widely known among the faithful as the “Our Father.”

Specifically, the Catholic leader said in an interview Wednesday he would prefer to adjust the phrase “lead us not into temptation,” saying that it too strongly suggested that God leads people to sin.

“That is not a good translation,” the pope said, according to Reuters.

I might be wrong, but if memory serves me correctly, the language of the prayer means, "lead us not into overwhelming trails (such as persecution, but deliver us from evil".

However, I don't think the wording needs to be "changed". We just need good teachers and students of the Word.

Agreed! "And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen." II Timothy 4:18

The RCC already changed it. Not only leaving off the doxology (reserved for the priests only), but the common wording used by millions of Protestants is the RCC paraphrastic version, instead of the actual written version(s).

Besides, this has no bearing on the activity of 99% of Pentecostals, who don't pray the Our Father prayer anyway.

He will not be pope much longer.
He's now calling for a two state solution for Israel and the Palestinians.
God will probably remove him.

So the guy can believe in all sorts of Voodoo Roman paganism and get a pass from God. But if he makes a statement about Middle East politics God will kill him?

Hey, Dordrecht is that a wolf with red eyes as your avatar?

God will remove him? LOL. I thought he’s the antichrist or the false prophet... or whatever.

The Bishop of Rome is as much a secular power as a sacred power. He has a standing army, can call for a crusade, and presides over the Vatican, which is a state within the state. As such, he serves at the whim and discretion of God, like any other elected leader.
