It is a difference of walking after the flesh and walking after the Spirit, respectively. :)

Its only my opinion but sometimes a performance based church is not one that puts on a show.Sometimes its based on soulwinning performance and a big guilt trip making it competitive.

When most people refer to a church that is performance-based, they are speaking of a legalistic church that promotes the earning of blessings through acts of obedience. A Spirit-led Church understands that only Christ's work on the cross awards us blessings.

Also, performance refers to concocting things out of the fleshly mind to do for the Lord, rather than let the Lord guide and direct. Performance oriented folks simply do not understand how to be Spirit led.

This is so true. They are too busy wanting their "pope" I mean pastor to TELL them what to do in almost every situation. It is much easier to be "submissive" than to actually try to make a decision based upon the word of God. :D

Performance based is man-led and Spirit-led is, well, Spirit-led.

To perform a thing is to DO it. There is lots of positive truth about "performance" in scripture.

Allow me to show you a few tonight:

21: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that DOETH the will of my Father which is in heaven. Matt. 7:21

Doing is PERFORMING.

Performing the will of the Lord is a great and awesome topic. Few are as important.

There is doctrine afloat today that mocks what they call "performance". Now if they would be referring to what scripture calls "dead works" they would be ok.

Many of them however seem to forget all about the performance COMMANDED BY JESUS.

If one is led by the Spirit they are PERFORMING THE WILL OF GOD in whatever aspect they were being led.

Here is a scripture about PERFORMING/DOING the will of Jesus:

14: Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Rev. 22:14

They that PERFORM his commandments will be allowed in Heaven. However those who do not PERFORM them will not.

So we see that PERFORMANCE from the Lords side is not a bad thing.

It all depends on who's getting the attention.... Them or HIM!!!

Me:

You mean like this?

22: And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1 John 3:22

Does this teach that blessings will come by obedience?
