God's Will
What is it? And how do you know if your in it?
Does finding His permissive will consist of me saying "I want" and asking "can I”? Does finding His perfect will consist of me asking “You want?” and saying “I can”? |

I am 42 years old and as far back as 1976, God was working inside my heart. Not in some flashy super spiritual way. With this in my heart, just like Jeremiah shut up in my bones. I have gauged my entire life. I have balanced how fast I earned 1 million dollars. The number of great things I have been able to have come my way. The illness of my oldest son. He is now 16 and 2004 underwent a non-related Doner Bone Marrow Transplant. He continues to go from doctor to doctor. Every step of my life, I am married and have only been married only once for over 20 years. To define the "Will of God" it will be the day that I step into what I know God has wanted me to do all along. I have not stepped into the perfect will of God, I have run from it all these years. I know what it is and it is with me everyday and night of my life. All I can say is I know...I believe it is the HG that guides us.... |
Seems there is the general will of God that we can know through his Word. Then there is his personal will for each of us. Im sure I am in the general will but the personal I find myself continually praying to discover.
There are times when I know I have been led by the Spirit in doing things. These are the greatest moments in my life. |
DWW,
First, I do not accept the premise of a "permissive Will of God". He has ONE will and that is perfect. Anything outside of that may well be His permission but it is not His will. Second, as to His will, I belive it is simple and singular. It is interwoven throughout His testaments, both Old and New. It is stated many different ways but it is ALL about the coming of HIS Kingdom through the redemption of men. I can tell you what His will is not for it is not His will that any should perish but that all should come to eternal life. Good instruction regarding the Will of God would be, "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus!" The will of God begins and ends in submission! Let your light so shine among men! So, my view is that if what I am doing is not focused on the redemption of men and the furtherance of His Kingdom then it is not the will of God. I actually use this as a measure of my actions. Does this mean that I have a life script that keeps me constantly at the church or knocking doors or teaching Bible studies? No, but it does mean that every action I take is first measured against these questions: Is there any way that what I am doing can further the Kingdom and can it in any way offer the sinner a glimpse of the power and beauty of His redemptive grace! That's my take and I may be way off base but it has certainly given my life purpose and allowed me to walk without fear of failing to fulfill His perfect will. |

Here is where the will of God started in my heart:
Proverbs 16:1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tounge, is from the Lord. I feel that I am ready after 20 plus years to reveal the preparation that God has worked within me.... To speak of the Good and great things of God.. Nathan Eckstadt |
