He was quoting Psalm 22:1, signifying what was happening.
No, He was not forsaken, in the sense God abandoned Him. |

Psalm 22 the whole chapter it describes perfectly the events of the crucifixion and the mockery of the Judean religious. Where the Psalm starts off with Eloi, Eloi, Lammasabcthani, Matthew ends the event with that quote. Which would of smacked the Pharisees right in the teeth. Since unknowingly the were fulfilling everything in Psalm 22.

Mt. 27:46 and Mark 15:34 are the passages in question.
My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Taking the passage at face value, God forsake Jesus Christ on the cross. |
