2 Parishioners Shot and Killed Texas Church Gunman

Police: 2 Parishioners Shot and Killed Texas Church Gunman

“An elder at the church told the New York Times that one of those killed was a security guard who responded to the shooter, calling him a dear friend.”

Now every apostolic gun toting church will feel justified about their security protocols. Every Pentecostal will get their ccw permit, then wonder why their feeling like the church of Christ congregations now.

Sad to see this happening in church. No place is safe or sacred any more, not even houses of worship and prayer.

I saw an edited video of the shooting.

First, the hero who stopped a likely massacre is no ordinary Joe. He's former law enforcement. I counted about 4.5 to 5 seconds from the time the first shot went off to the time the ex LEO took out the shooter. That's incredibly quick reaction time. Also, from what I can see on the video, it was a one shot kill. I tried estimating the distance and believe it's about 40 to 50 feet or more between the ex LEO and the killer, and he shot him in the head with one shot.

There's probably 1 out of 1,000 ordinary church going concealed carriers who could do that. That's important for people to understand. Stage this exact incident with someone else returning fire and the results would be much different every time. Ordinary Joe would likely have fired several rounds before even hitting the killer, much less ending the threat.

Second, the video I saw blurred the back of the church where he shot and killed someone, but it appears he got up and was talking with someone before stepping back, pulling the rifle out and opening fire. I'm curious at what he said.

Third, if you see the video, watch the guy in the blue sweater vest towards the middle of the bottom of the frame. Everyone else is diving for cover and he just sits there. It's amazing to me how he just sits there while chaos is erupting around him.

Lastly, the congregation is 90% senior citizens. The killer is in a dark overcoat with the hood over his head. Either the man visited there before and was known to them or they aren't real observant. The church I attend is smaller so anyone looking as out of place as that guy did would draw attention. Even in a similar sized church I previously attended, someone in an overcoat wearing a hood would draw attention.

Again, very sad that this is happening in churches today.

Non Instruments? Are you saying the churches will die?

The bottomline is that guns are necessary in the world we now live, black large brim cowboy hats look cool, and firing a shotgun in a Texas church is a good way to get killed.

Good observations nDavid.

Its all terribly sad, but thankful someone trained was able to take down the shooter. Most concealed weapon carriers would probably not be able to do that in that short of time period, and more likely more people would have been killed in the process.

But... at least someone in there had a weapon. Think of how many people would have died had there not been someone there to return fire before police could have responded. It would have been a massacre like the little town in Texas several years ago.

So... yes its a crazy world we live in.

The thing is a scam

Brenton Tarrant the Christchurch NZ shooter and "white nationalist" guy was from a town called Grafton

The day before this recent shooting a guy named Grafton attacked a synagogue.

This Church of Christ is in Tarrant County in a town called White Settlement. Which is conveniently located per google at an elevation of 666 ft above sea level.

I watched the press conference. The police chief was flubbing his lines very interestingly, kept saying Congressional and "service members". Very nervous as well.

I wonder if the FBI, Rangers, and national media always show up when 2-3 people get shot. The Chicago, Dallas, and New York field offices must be REEEEEEEALLY busy then...

And apparently the hero is a retired FBI agent.
