God's Plan Through This Season
 

This song came to my mind this morning as I sat thinking and praying in my living room.

Last night I felt defeated and broken. Every single day for the past week has been body blow after body blow of bad news and hearing people talk about their fears and anxiety.

With cities and states imposing bans on mass gatherings and the resulting closures of churches all around the country, I have prayed and asked God why this is happening.

I didn't hear any audible voice. I didn't hear a quiet voice. While praying, thoughts began coming to my mind. Here in America especially we have become reliant on two or three services a week to fill our spiritual tank, so to speak. Many rely on Sunday School to teach their children, and Youth Ministry to teach their youth, and the Pastor or another minister to preach and teach to the adults. We talk about what a great service it was ... "Man, that was good church!" When all that happened was people got dressed up, sang some songs, maybe danced a jig or cried a bit, heard a message and left much the same as they arrived. Not much changed, if anything. No one was saved or healed. But hey, we checked the box and we felt good, so it was a great service!

God has allowed this, I believe, to wean us off the church service milk and lead us into a deeper relationship with Him. He's restoring the balance and order for our families. God is giving Husbands and Fathers the opportunity to take on their role as the spiritual leader and Priest of their homes. It's time to strip away the unnecessary excess we've allowed in our churches. The idols we've created both at church and in our homes. God is allowing this to get us back to the simplicity of worship and the Gospel.

Church buildings may close.
Congregational services may be postponed.
But the Church of Jesus Christ will continue to move forward!

Worship is more than a building.
Worship is more than a service.
Worship is more than congregation.

In this season where we are unable to meet in groups and in buildings, let God break down the idols we've built in our churches. Let Him bring us back to the simplicity of worship and the Gospel. Let this start a fire and outpouring of the Holy Ghost in our homes, which can spread out into our communities around this nation.

God is in control, and He will not allow this virus to defeat the church.

That makes sense as to why you asked me what you did on the other thread.

I was wondering about that, it felt funny.

I am sorry that to you congregating in a assembly hall has apparently lost it's joy. It has not to me or those in this congregation.

I would say, on the average, we have 5-10 people baptized in Jesus name and as many filled with the Holy Ghost every single Sunday at our church. We are a large congregation that is growing weekly and have dynamic, passionate service weekly.
We will be having service outside on Sunday. You may listen from your car or step outside and praise God. I can bet you we will have a lot of baptisms. not all churches are dead.

How you came to this conclusion, I don't know. But it's so far from reality it's ridiculous.

I love going to church and worshiping with my brothers and sisters in Christ. It tears me up what's going on right now. That's why I was broken the other night.

But I believe that in this short time when we're not able to attend in a building, God is using it to get things back in order. The building is not the church. WE are the church. Religious instruction should begin in the home and with the Husband/Father.

God's plan for this season is the same as it has always been:

To seek and to save that which is lost. Reconnected with a backslider at work yesterday. Exchanged numbers, he is interested in coming to our Friday night meetings. A coworker took my number today, hoping to get her mom in Bible study with me. She speaks no English, and my Spanish is rusty, but we'll make it happen.

It is time for the Church to surge. Get up and get to work!

Each one of us is the church. But we do need regular gatherings. Meeting in homes was what the early church did, and revival broke out. I look forward to great things coming about because of this situation. I am not cast down, but rather encouraged. God is able to do mighty things in the midst of impossible, difficult and discouraging situations. This is not the time to hang your head, but rather, LOOK UP and rejoice that we are called to such a time as this!

Amen! May the homes be restored and brought back to a place of prayer and worship, instead of depending on a service 1-3 times a week to do it. Perhaps this will be what it takes for true revival to take place in our midst!

YES! This is a time to be about the Father's business. Don't spread fear. Share the LOVE of God with everyone you meet. Smile at people. PRAY for them. Look around and see who needs to be encouraged. This is a time for the church to shine its light into the darkness of the world. Be about the Father's business, wherever you are!
