I walk him off leash at the water mgmt park which is use for flood control, and also open to the public. There are many trails and ponds and not many other people use it, which is nice because our walks feel secluded. There are a few other people who come with hunting dogs to exercise them, all who are friendly and well trained. So, sometimes he even gets to run with a small pack of people/dogs walking together. |

Re: Beloved Pets
We have 3 Siberian huskies. Really cool dogs but they are not off leash dogs ever. We had a cat...which was fell victim to our most recent dog’s prey drive...
We also raise meat rabbits...which tend to be temporary pets.. |

I have a feeling Im gonna have to come to terms with the "meat pet" mindset sooner than later. Im more of a shoot from a distance making a clean kill kind of guy rather than getting hands on. My first dog was a coyote/german shepherd/collie mix. I didn't have him for long after he was grown because he was hyper territorial and we lived in town. He knew he was my dog and I was his human. We had that really close bond and he even slept in my bed at night. After dad took him on a rural excursion he never came back from we had a mix of cats and dogs typical for kids. The primary breed we had were Chows. Interesting hardheaded spoiled breed. We got our first because my grandparents had her and she ate the neighbors chickens so the deal was that my dad bury the chickens and we got the dog. We kept some of her puppies throughout the years. I guess Id have to say that my favorite was a Chow my ex mother and law bought us named Pooh. Pooh was NOT like other Chows. He was this sweet kind furball I raised with 3 orphaned kittens. Two of the kittens I found as newborns in a landfill while dumping construction debris. So I take Hans and Frans*SNL reference* home and eye drop feed them along with this chow. They grow up and they would play and chase each other throughout the house. They would literally take turns like tag. Right after I got the two kittens from the dump we were bequeathed a 3rd kitten...a grey and white Ragdoll. Those three would run Pooh ragged and he'd lay there and theyd come over and knit buscuits on his fat rolls. He was also really good with everyone in the neighborhood. He'd walk with my mom to the postoffice and back and also with the neighbor and his dog for their daily jogs. |
Re: Beloved Pets
I raise German Shepherds. My male was very protective, one day a drug dealer came waking on the side of the house. My wife was outside, I was at work, my wife said the next thing she knew, was my dog latched on that poor gentleman. His rear end will never be the same...
Funny thing is, that gentleman called the ambulance as well the cops. The cops never came over (they knew my dog) they ended up calling and just telling us they’re not even recognizing that he made a complaint..... :heeheehee The names of my dogs Male- Buddy Female- Beretta |

The people right across the street from where I grew up had family that came down from Colorado on the regular. They had two Siberian Huskies that were so socialble and beautiful. They would pull a sled down the street with the kid on it. |
Re: Beloved Pets
We currently have a white German Shepherd/husky mix. She is my protector when I walk! Everyone thinks she looks like a wolf, and sometimes we wonder, as she loves to howl, especially when there's a new moon! We also have an Australian Shepherd. She is just precious, and so very loyal and sweet. I walk many, many miles a day with these dogs, and in wild animal territory. I don't carry, other than a shot-gun (my phone/camera) and my two protectors, and the Lord watches over me as I walk. I'm blessed and thankful for my two sweet girls!
