Today's Music

Ok, enough threads in all the other forums about yesteryear..great times, great music, but if you want some great updated new music, here is the place. I will try to post all genres, artists, and song titles to the best of my ability.

The first artist I will post is a group of songwriters and artists who minister to campuses around North America and they include artists such as Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman. The cds/dvds are titled, "Passion" and they go back a few years. They all contain songs that churches everywhere are starting to sing. Some of the songs include, Holy Is The Lord, Sing To The King, and How Great Is Our God. These songs are quickly becoming anthems heard around the world, they are easy to learn, and they are simple to introduce to your church worship services. They are not too rocky so that the older folks won't mind and they are the songs of the younger generation and they will appreciate you singing these in church.

Hope this helps...be blessed!

We do a variety of styles, but most is Contemporary and of the genre of songs you mentioned above. Sometimes we "rock out" but I try to keep the volume under control on Sunday mornings. I have a saying though, that I am known to utter, "If it's too loud, you're too old!" I'm almost 53 and can still hear very well. Those Led Zep and The Who concerts didn't mess me up too badly. CRANK it up and let's get crazy for Jesus!!!! I still jump with our Impact Youth folks on Sunday nights!

I all seriousness, we try to appeal to wide aray of folks but we don't TWANG for nobody! :D

We try to do a nice blend on Sunday mornings but ramp it up on Sunday nights.
We also have special events that we pretty much take it over the edge!!! Also on wed. evenings we have a rockin' time in youth at "The Edge"

Here is a link to a great Praise & Worship song that has been around for awhile. Written by Darrell Evans and made famous by Israel Houghton. Israel's music crosses the Praise & Worship/Black Gospel lines and can be used in ANY Apostolic service. This song is soooooo fun to do, here is an easy guitar version for "Trading My Sorrows": http://www.allthelyrics.com/song/961499/

enjoy:) :)

My favorite Christian singer right now is Paul Baloche. He wrote Open the Eyes of my heart...and Above all....and other really great songs.

You can search his name on Youtube and find clips of his instructional DVD's...he's a great guitarist and a good teacher too. Here are two of my favs http://youtube.com/watch?v=oRkDzNEXed0

His lyrics are powerful to me...very meaningful yet easy to remember. I listen to his live CD a lot when I'm driving around...it really helps me center my thoughts on the Lord and think about how very good God has been to me!

There is a song that I hear on the radio a lot. I have no idea the name of it or who sings it. I think it is called "King of My Soul." I love the song. It is beautiful.

Israel has been an instrument in bringing some powerful music and lyrics into churches around the world and in my opinion one of the greatest EVER!
He tell a wonderful story about how his mother's family wanted her to abort him and how she found God and now the rest is history...imagine, no "Friend Of God", no "Who is Like The Lord, and many other great tunes:bliss

I hear he now attends the church in Houston where Hector Soto (J.C.M) is the music leader.

Thank God for creating songwriters like Israel Houghton:ty

GREAT POST!!!!!
I am SO BLESSED to had had the opportunity to get about 30 minutes with Paul in Pittsburgh, PA 2 years ago. He shared how he wrote those songs and we had an awesome time sharing about how AWESOME God is. BTW, he knew of New Brunswick Canada and even has a camp in Digby Nova Scotia just a ferry ride away from us.
He knew about the struggles that New Brunswick has had spiritually and even offered to come up this way (FOR FREE!!!) whenever the time is right, wow!

When our choir first started getting oportunities to sing in our community outside of our own church walls, we did "Above All" quite a few times and when coupled with Apostolic anointing, we were able to have an impact, Praise God!

Thanks for letting others hear about Paul Baloche. (BTW pronounced Ba-loshe--long vowel):highfive
