Some things just interest me...

I saw a news segment this morning about Eddie Murphy's Oscar nomination and mentioned to my mom about his Apostolic upbringing.

In his youth, EM rode the bus to church in Freeport, NY...not sure how long he was a part of the Sunday School/church there, but he is still close friends with the pastor, Bishop Ronald Carter and gives to the church (COOLJC).

Also, re Bishop Carter, he once played for Ruby and the Romantics back in the day. If you like oldies and know the song Our Day Will Come, that's Bishop C on the organ.

Rev. Ike was COOLJC, as was the late Sam Cooke (You Send ME)...and I think Toni Braxton, though I may have her confused with someone else.

I know the late gospel great, Rev. James Cleveland, was raised by his Sanctified grandmother...not sure if she was Apostolic or COGIC.

Model/actress, Grace Jones, was Apostolic...

Does anyone know of anyone else?! It matters not for my interest if the upbringing was not Apostolic. Just wonderin' if you know who was raised Pentecostal...

MC Hammar used to attend Oneness churches in Oakland. Interesting he was on TV as a preacher, but would visit dance clubs "for a workout"....

It was rumored Denzel Washington was attending a PAW church once I believe I heard. (Thad would know more!)

It was Bishop Blake's and it's COGIC...still Pentecostal but not Apostolic.

I'm interested in both so will add to my first post that point...

Sam Kenison, comeidan of the baser sort, was a pentecostal preacher of some sort, at aone time.

He met with a tragic early departure from this life.

Drew Carey was raised Pentecostal. Denzil Washington still attends a Pentecostal church In California (Charles Blake's).
