Luke 4:22..what does this mean?
 

18The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

19To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

20And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.

21And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

22And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph's son?

23And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

24And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.



what does this mean? (the bolded part)

They were amazed that the son of a carpenter (as they supposed) could speak with such grace and eloquence.

I'd never noticed the phrase "gracious words" before and wasnt really sure what that meant.

Well, I'm a simple fellow, so my explanations of things tend to be simple.

There is so much more to this scripture than meets the

natural eye. Isaiah 61, was beginning to be fulfilled in Jesus

Christ, a body that was prepared from the foundation of the

world. In the fulness of time, He came to earth via the manger

and grew in wisdom and stature until the time appointed of the

Father (Deity, Spirit, God). When Jesus was about thirty years

old, He was baptized by John in the River Jordan. The Holy Ghost

descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him and a voice from

heaven, which said, "Thou art my beloved Son; IN thee I AM well

pleased. All power indwelled in the body of Jesus Christ for the

purpose of bringing redemption to humanity. He was the Lamb of

God, slain from the foundation of the world. From the temple made

with human hands, transferred to a Temple not made with hands.

The anointing of the Most Holy was when the Holy Ghost came down

and anointed the "Temple of the Holy Ghost, Jesus Christ. The new

dwelling place of God. Not in man-made temples but to be placed

in the hearts of fleshly men. We are the temple of the Holy Ghost

if indeed Christ lives in us. If we do not have the Spirit of Christ

dwelling inside, we are none of His.

Jesus was telling them in the jewish synagogue that day, as He

opened the book of the prophet Isaiah. This day is this scripture

fulfilled in your ears. Not much longer would He walk WITH them but

would be IN them. They would see His face no more. He told them

He was WITH them but would be IN them. Like a well of living water,

springing up into everlasting life.

Perhaps there are many people today who are walking WITH Him

but He is not IN them yet. Jesus said that if they would follow on

to know the Lord, then they would be His disciples (followers) indeed!
