Good or Powerful

Is it better to be good or powerful?

RevDWW 08-28-2007 10:32 PM

Does might make right?

Amos 08-29-2007 07:00 AM

It's really cool being both.

I highly recommend it.

Add humility to the mix, and there is nothing like it.;)

I would have to say that it is better being good... and might does not make right...

God is both totally good and all powerful. Man is good only to the extent that he has become filled with the image of Christ, otherwise self-centered. Man's power is only temporary, the powerful of my childhood are all gone now.

Those who are blessed to enter that City Foursquare are going to hear, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant," not "Well done, thou powerful and faithful servant."

And what is most often viewed as powerful? Those who wield power over men.

That isn't power we should seek after.

I equate powerful with the Word being confirmed with signs following--people repenting, receiving the Holy Ghost, being delivered and being healed.

And I am all for that kind of power. God intends for us to see that power at work in our midst.

I guess I missed out on the seminar touting this wielding power over men stuff...

Surely that isn't what most Apostolics think of when they think of power. It is the power of God, not the power of human will and the wisdom that is earthly and sensual and devilish. I am not that cynical about the Church to think that that is the most common perception of power.

Good grief.

I didn't realize this wasn't in the fellowship hall.:)

It reminds of Cornelius.. the man was good... but needed more

The Power was missing in his life... until it was revealed to him...

Many folks are good...but not Powerful until after that the Holy Ghost is come upon them...

I need the Power to be Good...
