License Question
 

I have not been on here all that long and this may have been discussed before, but....

For those licensed with the UPCI or other Op organizations I have a question for you. In the applying process does the application ask if your wife or daughers have ever cut their hair and if so when was the last time they did so?

The reason I ask is at one time I was thinking of applying to be a evangelist with the ALJC and the license asked these questions. I did not apply needless to say. I do not feel it is any of their business, but what it really does it force you to lie or not apply. I do not have a problem with the not applying, but the lying is different. I know good and well there are UPCI churches and ALJC churches the the pastors women cut their hair, but yet on the application they say no that the women don't. They also ask about your prayer life including the days and times of the praying.

I think that these are stupid things to ask. What say ye?

Stupid for you to ask- or stupid to ask on an application?

When I applied for the right and privilage to drive a car in California, it said I will obey the speed laws. If I then take liberty and drive faster than the posted limit, or outside the lines, I lose that right.

The obligation for uncut hair is no diferent than 52 Big Screen "monitors" or any other myriad of topics that a man could lie about on the application.

Boils down to integrity, committment and burden instead of wanting a huge paycheck.

The trouble with your question is we then get all kinds of dumb answers whether or not cut hair is correct. Not answers to your question. Maybe I did not do any better.

I was licensed with the ALJC back in the nineteen seventies. I don't remember any question like that.

I've been licensed with a couple of other OP organizations and don't remember any question like that.

I've never been licensed with the UPC so I don't know what they ask.

Good point BOOMM. If I want the license I must conform to the application process and rules for membership whether it's a preacher's, medical, drivers, or whatever kind of license even if they ask questions I might find to be "stupid".

I was meaning that I feel it is stupid to ask. But that is my opinion. I understand why they do that, but I still think it is a weird question. The reason is it does not ask about movies, shorts on guys, porn, tv's, bad attitudes, lying, etc. But it does pull out something that is the scheme of everything is a minor thing. Whether one follows it or not it is making it a larger deal that a sin addiction such as porn or homosexuallity. That is what I mean.

You think it is a good point....eh. The truth is you have to say that you will obey the speed limit but as everyone knows NO ONE OBEYS THEM!!!! :driving

I agree the idea behind the example was nice but bad example cause many people speed. Just like many people sign these things improperly.

Now see there you added clarification (twice :heeheehee) and it makes your question and statement easier to understand.

The application is as out-dated as the Articles of Faith. I personally agree that he 1993 (or was it 94) Technology Amendment was weak and needed an update in 2000 and needs update again in 2007. But the tools are there and that is what we have to work with. (I won't even attempt to address why we can not proxy vote either! :ranting)

I would trust a man with a porn or homosexual addiction would have enough integrity to NOT want to be validated in a pulpit.
