Christianity Without Community Involvement?

Is it possible to truly practice Christianity without somehow becoming involved in your community? Without loving others? Without caring for others? Without being a Good Samaritan? Without witnessing of God's goodness?

How can the people in our churches think that they can keep God boxed up inside the four walls of their church? How can church-goers just sit while thousands of people pass in eternity daily? Has selfishness completely overran selflessness? Has personal comfort become their greatest priority?

What say ye?

So how can SOOOO many Pentecostals who never care for and love others outside the Church walls even call themselves Christians? Or even be bold enough to think of themselves as Christian, for that matter?

Good point. I think its a good idea for every local church to have some kind of community involvement.

The same goes for individual saints too. I've recently become a blood donor with the Red Cross and plan to remain so for life. I think every Christian should find some charity or cause and be a regular participant or donor to it. Its a good way of sharing ourselves with the world.

Our giving to the world should consist not just of sharing the gospel, but giving of ourselves also.

Our church motto is " Get out of your seats and in the streets!!!!!!!!!"

good post Lost, yes we are supposed to be out there, if your church does not promote it then do it yourself and pray they follow. I can tell you what we do to maybe give you some ideas. We did trunks of treats on Halloween, advertised in the newspaper a safe place for kids to come and get candy, boy did we surprise them, we had ballons and a singing, story telling puppet show set up. Had 103 non church families come thru.
We are advertising now for present wrapping, everyone in the church is donating the materials and we are going to offer free gift wrapping to the public.
Our pastor is the local Game and Fish Hunters Education Instructer, he witnesses after classes.
Every time we cook we advertise to the public, Had our annual fish fry last month. We also have a silent auction once a year with items donated from members, great fundraiser for the church and brings the public in.
We have a couple of guys that take the bus out like an hour before church and pick kids up, if they see any outside playing they will stop and invite them, if parents say its ok they bring them to church just like they are!!!
I have a volunteer citizens on patrol program I run that is an awesome witnessing tool. especially when you help stranded motorist, when they ask you what they owe you I hand them a flyer to church!!!! www.salinevips.com

We found a newspaper article about a month ago that had the results of a survey that said 70% of our local community does not go to church. In our city that means there are about 75,000 people sitting at home on Sunday morning practicly under the shadow of our steeple. so sad........

Great Post Lost!!!! Hope there are some ideas here for you and encouragement for all!!!!! Its our responsibility to reach as many as we can.
Remember, after the Holy Ghost fell on the Day of Pentecost Peter had a little church service and the Bible says 3,000 more added unto them!!!!!!!!

What are you waiting for ,
GET OUT OF YOUR SEATS AND IN THE STREETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Holy Ghost is for ALL who will believe!!!!!!!!!!!

The reason some churches never grow they do not get out where the sinners are.
