How long should one wait until getting baptized?

A few Years ago we had a minister who visited our church and condemned us for baptizing "sinners". they had not repented because they had not yet adhered to the dress code and so forth.

this older minister threw a fit once when he saw someone getting baptized with a mustache.

how far down the path of repentance should someone be before they get baptized ?
what is your rule of thumb?

Do we sometimes go to fast losing the meaning of what it's all about ?
down a dry sinner up a wet devil ?

Dear me, they should be baptized as soon as they have a repentive heart.

Not when their hair grows to their knees or they go home and shave off their facial hair.

IMO this minister has missed the boat!!!

Nowhere do I remember reading you have to be lined up with an ORGANIZATIONS rules before being baptized.

Jesus had a beard and probably a mustache also, and He was baptized.

No one should wait to be baptized! When they are ready to have their sins washed away, that is when it should happen!

Wow. I have never heard of some of these scenarios...most pastors I know of take them directly to the water after they have repented....

Right!

Even at our conferences. :)

There is water what hindered me to be baptized? wasn't that somewhere in the Bible?

That is the most ridiculus thing I've ever heard! How many were baptized on the day of pentecost? in cornelious's household? in samaria? what about the ethiopian eunich? these were one day occurences, not over time! OMW, that really makes me heated that there are people teaching that garbage:nah
