What is a UC in your opinion?

What exactly is your definition of a "UC" here on AFF?

What would you say puts one in that category?

Joseph Miller 11-09-2007 11:19 PM

A UC is

1. no tv
2. no tolerance for someone with tv
3. those who judge people who aren't like them
4. no short sleeves
5. no colored shirts
6. no bright ties
7. only dark ties
8. no ball games
9. no wedding rings
10. no cuff links

that is just a few things.

If ALL 10 apply they are not a moderate. Some of the 10 apply but not all.

I have stated this before.
No Liberal will say "I am a liberal."
Everyone is "quite conservative"

No moderate will have issues with either liberals or conservatives.

Conservatives consider Liberals so lost they cannot tolerate them, and do not allow any variance in black and white rules.

Generally we do have a good mix on the board, and some of the moderates and liberals actually bring the better discussion here, for they are interested in dialogue not discipling or disciplining the lost.

UCs are not uniquely no TV...a mod or con can be that...even a lib. A UC though will want to make everyone else No TV...it's not just their choice. They want everyone else to have to obey it too

As a UC (to the Conservative I am a liberal and to the liberal I am a Conservative) I feel you have painted with a very broad brush. I Fellowship and preach for some of the most UC brethren in Pentecost IMO and while some may observe/fit all of these, there is a wide diversity among most UC's out there.

#3 is really offensive to me! The sad reality is that this spirit and attitude is shared on every side of the spectrum. Just look at some of the "lib" posts here on AFF and you will see some pretty judgmental attitudes, just as wrong as those coming from Cons/UCs

Isn't the only decoration among the Ultra cons that is acceptable the toupe? Or am I thinking the TBN crowd again....
LOL!

I've always felt that the labeling that is applied among OPs' is either misleading or meaningless.

It's like Sherri said recently. To some here on AFF she's quite "liberal," but to society in general, she's a raving ultraconservative religious nut (or words to that effect).

Really, our most "liberal" OPs' are very conservative. If our "libs" today could move back through time would appear very conservative in even a 1950's America.

Well almost right. I did meet a few OP recently who favor same sex marriage.
