Word of Wisdom and Prophecy

I have a question...

I'm in the middle of a 4 part series that I'm teaching about the Holy Spirit.
Last night and next week I'm dealing with the "works of the Holy Spirit" concerning salvation, guidance, prayer, and empowerment/ministry.

Last night I focused on empowerment and ministry. As I was teaching on the gifts and explaining the differences between them I started to think isn't the word of wisdom and prophecy almost the same??

The way I explained the word of wisdom was pretty close to the way I explained prophecy.

I was wondering if someone else had a take on this subject.

I teach that the word of knowledge is to "know" the problem/situation/illness
word of wisdom is the solution or guidance for the problem/situation

When I talk about prophecy, to me, it's almost the same as the word of wisdom.

just wanted an opinion...

It seems to me the word of wisdom is a supernatural word of wisdom given for any given situation.

For instance when the 2 women fought over a baby in Solomons time. The solution that brought the end result was dividing the child in half. That provoked true compassion from the real mother.

Another was the woman taken in adultery. The Jews wished to stone her putting Yeshua on the spot. Would he uphold the law of Moses and ok the stoning or not?

The word of wisdom came. He that is without sin among you let him cast the first stone.

Yeshua never spoke against the law and the woman still received mercy.

I guess where I think the word of wisdom and prophecy are closely related is that both can be for guidance

Word of Wisdom is knowing what to do with the facts. Word of Knowledge is knowing the facts. Prophecy is a direct word from God to a church or a person

Prophecy is a direct word from God to a church or person for guidance or uplifting.........kind of like word of wisdom.

no, not kinda like the word of wisdom.

Prophesy is God speaking directly...you repeat what God said verbatim such as "Thus says the Lord, in three days you shall come into great money and then a tornado will bring your house down"

Word of Knowledge (what it is) "The Lord told me that you have a cancerous tumer"

Word of wisdom (what to do) "You need to trust God and go ahead and see the doctors and everything will be alright"

Prophecy (direct communication "I am the Lord that called you. I am your Father and you are my Son. Trust in me and I will be your strength"

maybe what we sometimes label as a prophetic word is really a word of wisdom...

say a man of God is ministering and "calls someone out" and tells them of a ministry or gift they might have........since it's not a direct word from God this is word of wisdom and not prophecy in your opinion?

The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophesy. Rev. 19:10. The gift of prophesy is similar to gift of tongues. You really don't know what you are going to say, God gives the unction as you yield to Him. Wisdom is knowing when to yield to Him. Wisdom of man is accumulated philosophic or scientific learning. The gift of wisdom is yielding, listening to and obeying the Spirit of God. He will let you know in your mind what to do in any situation. Knowledge is also a gift from God, that will keep you on track when you are in need of how to face spiritual problems, especially in service when preaching and teaching. Also in one on one teaching. We are to be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
