Re: Romans 9:5 - understanding the English AV text

Winner, winner, Chicken Dinner.

I think you have it absolutely correct, particularly the use of elohim and its applied sense to other beings, even humans, apart from the God of Israel.

The...

Re: What's your view on Hell?

It's a little like Dr. Fauci saying people disagree with him because he represents "Science".

Re: Three Parables of Luke 15

Re: Pool of Bethesda

NT is New Testament, LXX is the Roman Numeral for 70, a kind of shorthand for Septuagint.

I don't see that in the text.

They cry for mercy. Jesus tells them to go and show themselves to...

Re: Romans 9:5 - understanding the English AV text

That is a key debate between the Oneness and Trinity positions. Both affirm that Jesus is being called God, but in what way? As the Father, or as God the Son?

This one has a little more depth...

Re: Pool of Bethesda

A supposition for your consideration:

In John 5:8, when Jesus tells the man to "Get up", the Greek is emphatic:

Ἔγειρε - Egeire

This verb means to arise, to awaken:

Re: Help with Arabic

Thank you, Brother.

I see that, in 2 Kings 17:13, translated into Arabic, the two words I am seeking confirmation about, are not there.

But what of the words themselves, apart from the verse?

Re: Three Parables of Luke 15

Because it was the son who lost himself. The Father never lost him.

Luke 15:17 (ESV),

17 “But when he came to himself..."

His lost senses returned to him, and he went back home.

Re: What's your view on Hell?

The English word "hell" is derived from the Old English hel, with a cognate in the Old Norse word "hel", with cognates in other languages as well. It's original source is from the Proto-Germanic...
