I remember back in the 80s hearing messages that the government was watching through the fiber optic lines. My mom used to put a coat or comforter over the tv whenever we would be staying in a hotel room.
It's not just limited to smart tv's. Some cell phones have been hacked and the front-facing camera used to watch as well.
