The Star of David and the Menorah are the most notable symbols in Judaism. The Menorah is certianly older. I choose the Star of David not because of its pagan origins, but because of its wide-spread contemporary association with Judaism.
To me, it certainly IS a symbol of Jewish roots. To you, it is pagan. I suggest that you not wear a Star of David.
