A democratic republic and the electoral college is designed to protect us from the whims of the majority at the expense of the republic.
And remember, we are "The United STATES" not the United People. This is a nation comprised of the several STATES and the State electors do the actual voting which is influenced by the "POLL" taken from it's citizens.
Correct me if I am wrong, but cant the delegates just cast their vote however they want regardless of the "POLL"?
