Re: Trump

Yes, I voted for Trump. But this morning after reading 1 Samuel:

Who is our King? Are we trusting in the rulers of this world to save us?

In 1 Samuel Israel rejects God as King, wanting to be like the other nations. The people's request for a king is portrayed as a sinful and rebellious act against God's rule. In 1 Samuel 8:6-8, Samuel is displeased with the people's request, feeling it's a rejection of his own leadership and, more importantly, a rejection of God's kingship. God assures Samuel that the rejection is not of Samuel himself, but rather of his rule over them.

Samuel later reminds the people of their sinful request, stating that they asked for a king despite having God as their King (1 Samuel 12:12-13, 17). He warns them that if they or their king disobey God, He will bring calamity upon them. Furthermore, Samuel had initially warned the people of the consequences of having a king, including the king's power to take their sons, daughters, and property for his own purposes (1 Samuel 8:11-18). Despite these warnings, the people insisted on having a king, which God saw as a rejection of His rule.
