What I do see is prevelant (even in some UC churches) is that the Glamour Factor is always pushed...from being on the Presidential Round Table... which was glamorized at a local Large UC Church by their Pastor...(forgot to tell them it's about $7 G's to be a part of the Round Table)... to meeting an actor and telling the church that He is looking "our way"... to focusing on a Television Personality and promoting something the UPC doesn't believe in the first place...
It doesn't make sense other than to turn the tide politically from the bottom up... The pastor preaches against Television... the youth say "why?"... We celebrated a Personality at Youth Congress..then they think "What's Wrong With our Pastor"?... and it grows from there...

Sort of like the phenomena I have noticed over my 48 years of conservative Pentecostal preachers incorporating stories involving sports figures in their sermons. Many times about their dedication, perseverence, or having overcome huge obstacles before success.
