If you want to know what things would come to pass in that generation go back and read. The disciples asked three questions: Matt. 24.3, "And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto Him privately, saying, Tell us, (1) when shall these things be? and (2) what shall be the sign of thy coming, and (3) and of the end of the world?"

He is speaking of the "end times" for that age, the old covenant age that ended completely in 70 AD.
all THESE things come to pass. The fig tree was a parable about the ending of this age and all these things that needed to come to pass
