The Love of Calvary

Interesting thoughts of Christ's love for me flashed through my simplistic mind
Gazing at the scene of the cross, I realized that He didn't have to be so kind

In a world of darkness that showed Him no love, He became the bright Light
Knowing that one day, all who would believe on Him would again receive sight

Every step up Golgotha's steep hill was a choice of love in spite of intense pain
Just a single drop of His blood would bring grace down like showers of cool rain

Another place, that being the Temple, the vail curtain from top to bottom rend
In the act of calvary's sacrifice, the Beginning had brought sin to it's final End

Alpha and Omega, and Great I am - His long list of victories had again grown
As a mighty angel pronounced, He has risen!!! - from the greatest rolling stone

It’s a wonderful thought, that our dark sins can be washed as white as snow
How in an upper-room, a mighty rushing wind of the Spirit first began to blow

On the day of Pentecost, the Promise of the Father fell on them like flames of fire
Looking back to that day, it is obvious that His unmeasurable mercy will never tire

Everytime I fail and fall, and my heavy heart feels the guilt of having sinned
Looking to the sky, I remember that He can cast my sin to the Eastern wind

Only through the blood of calvary can your sins be washed, and your needs tend
Thanks be to Jesus, my loving Savior. His blood was shed for you too, my friend.
