Of course! You can say: "I think that could have been done differently" or "I wish she had stuck to the more traditional version" without being mean. 
Vocally speaking, MM is definitely not perfect, but I still love to hear her sing, mistakes and all!!!
Also, some vocalists do not record well ( live), but when you are actually present it may sound a lot different--and feel a lot different.
