Re: Where is The Best Fried Chicken Found ?
Hey Scott,
As part of what can only be called my Schizophrenic existence (no insult meant to the schizo's out there.) (None taken.) Aside from the Apostolic Faith brethren, mostly ultra cons, I ALSO run with a pretty intellectual group of writers and directors in the the film industry as well as their incredibly OUT there brainiac adult children who tend toward the various fields of science, politics and symphonic arts....They also tend to be pretty much Orthodox Kosher Keepers, BUT we all have found that there is one restaraunt in the LA area that makes them kind of go on urlaub from the Kosher strictures if just for the night, it is the following...
Roscoes Chicken and Waffles
I tried to cut and paste the web site however ***I**** am NOT a braniac and am in fact technically challenged! But if you ever get out there you HAVE to get there one night at least!!!! Its not exactly a dive, but its certainly no Trader Vics either.
Talk about comfort food! Amazing! And about a year ago I was talking to Brother Jonathon Alvear at a Cracker Barrel in Sulphur, Louisiana, and I was telling him about this restaraunt that served the Chicken and Waffles, and this couple at the next table leaned over and interrupted to ask "Are you talking about Roscoes???!!!!" THEY had heard about it and were planning on making it one of their MUST do things when they went out to the West Coast on their vacation.
I understand from other friends in the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania area that THEY have a restaraunt along the same idea there but cant recall the name of it.
Any way the chicken isnt exactly fried, more of what they used to call Broasted I think. But WOW! And all the sides, home made potato salad, sweet potato pie, green beans, almost the kind of side dishes served in a barbeque joint. Next time you are out in the LA area you just HAVE to do Roscoes, and maybe you will see ME there!
