I have observed this through the years. I like to think this is God's plan. There's no fooling 'Daddy' if the baby is not really his. 
Of course this isn't true in EVERY case...but for the most part...There usually seems to be more of Daddy's looks in the first couple days than there is Mommy's.

Neither of my children looked like their father when they were born.
Neither one of them ever have looked like him. My daughter has his brown eyes, and that's it. She looks exactly like me.
I have no idea where my son came from. His blonde curly hair and blue eyes aren't familial traits on either side!
