I was studying this scripture (
Eph 1:7) this morning and was caught by "...redemption through his blood....."
I'm still looking at that and probably could go more your way that the remission of sins is found when the blood is applied at baptism.
I was torn between when forgiveness and remission take place, but kept getting caught with the above - which is also recorded in
Col. 1:14.
It was interesting, though, to read in
Romans 8:23 - "And not only they, but ourselves also,
which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves,
waiting for the adoption, to wit,
the redemption of our body.
When you read in
Romans 8:9 that without God's Spirit you are none of His
AND that we wait for the redemption of our bodies - it appears that our redemption is fully complete when we are adopted. Does our adoption take place at the resurrection or when His Spirit resides in us?
When you study forgiveness, sanctification, redemption, sins, conversion, adoption, it never appears to be a complete package until He takes us home. All of these word studies lead me back to
Acts 2:38 - not even making that complete until He calls us home.
