"out of sorts"?
Hey, I'm old,
just about the oldest one in this group.
I get to be a grumpy old man
because I can't spell curmudgeon.

Anyhoo, why all this talk about King James?
Wasn't he a pervert? Would you read a Bible named after him?
Didn't the REAL Protestants use the Geneva Bible which was older?
and was translated in Geneva where the Prods had to flee from Bloody Mary?
I have a (new) edition of the 1599 edition of the Geneva Bible.
It's in modern print (kinda small for my trifocals) and it has the letter "J"; it doesn't add that extra "e" at the end of words; it uses the letters "u" and "v" the way we are used to seeing them used; it spells "lion" without a "y" (lyon appears some places in the old KJV); it includes the verses the JW's, modernists, and all those other bad guys took out (like Matthew 17:21; Mark 16:9-20; John 5:4; the first verses of John chapter 8; Acts 8:37; part of Acts 9:6; 1 John 5:7)

I'm old enough to remember the Revised Standard Version and the furor it created by not calling Mary a virgin in Isaiah chapter 7 and by dropping certain verses. One fundamentalist (funny mentalist) preacher publicly threw it in a tub of lye. One took a blowtorch to it and said, "It's like the devil, it doesn't burn easy."
