The bikini reference is one way to get those who zealously advocate that "no outward standards exist in God" to acknowledge that somewhere along the continuum of choices involving how we present our bodies --we need to live consistent with the desires of whoever we call Lord.

We can continue to engage the carnally-minded sport of bashing each other in this topical area or we can acknowledge that our Master, our Lord, our redeemer, and certainly our 'loving heavenly father' is watchful and highly interested in how present we our bodies.

All of this silly rhetorical contention is given space because we try to apply "effect" as "cause".

Everything we DO reveals whatever we LOVE.

The DO stuff is just an indicator(manifestation) of the invisible secret STUFF --the motives that proceed from our own heart.

IMO....
A person is living in the capital of Crazyville if they think:
1. Outward appearances will save them.
or
2. Outward appearances do NOT extend from the heart.
I think it's a stretch to bring in the bikini example as a comparison to, say, women wearing pants. People who believe in outward holiness standards will use that extreme to make their point instead of addressing the norm. I don't know of any church that would allow a woman in a bikini on their platform. Come on...let's talk about the actual issue instead of stretching things.
